A certificate for 100 shares of Erie Railroad Company stock. Normally a very common item, this one has an interesting twist as the owner of the shares was Austin Peay.  This was the son of the senior Austin Peay, the former governor or Tennessee who passed away in 1927.  There is also a University named after the Governor whose team is named the Governors.  The stock certificate was issued on November 10, 1948 so these shares clearly were not owned by the senior Austin Peay. A common certificate with an uncommon historical connection to a very historical Tennessee figure.  Furthering the connection, the certificate was signed "Austin Peay" and the signature was guaranteed by a cashier at the First Trust & Savings Bank in Clarksville, Tennessee. In excellent condition with hole cancelling at the top and on both sides. Please review the photos as they are a part of the description and show the actual item you will receive.
