    Description

Legendary boxer Joe Louis was one of the most fearsome fighters of his day. A crushing heavyweight, Louis won 68 of his 71 career fights, retiring in 1949 after reigning as heavyweight champion for staggering 140 months. Offered here are an incredible pair of Joe Louis fight worn boots that date back to the 1930’s. These boots are the same style worn by Louis and can be seen in numerous photographs of Louis from that era. They are made of black leather and have black laces. The size of these boots are approximately 11-12, which were the size Louis wore throughout his career and are cut just above the ankles. Each boot has a set of 12 metallic eyelets and the manufacturing label is not present.
These rare fight-worn boots have been sourced to the Mannie Seamon boxing collection from the early 1990’s. Seamon was a boxing trainer who worked with Louis and other fighters like Benny Leonard. Seamon began working with Joe Louis as an assistant trainer under head trainer Jack Blackburn and became Louis’ head trainer when Blackburn passed away in 1942. A wonderful opportunity to own a historic pair of match worn boots from one of the greatest heavyweight champions of all-time. These boots come with a LOA from boxing memorabilia export Craig R. Hamilton, who states in his LOA that “It is my opinion and conclusion the shoes described were from the collection of Mannie Seamon and were once owned by and used by joe Louis in training and likely in professional fights in the late 1930’s to early 1940’s.”
