JUST TWO WEEKS after scoring a
J win in the Jack Pine run, Edgar
    Kauffman brought his Zundapp home
for a first place high score victory in
the Sandy Lane Enduro. His win came
only after some stiff competition from
    Triumph-mounted Phil Kusnick, as
they both finished with a tied score of
983 points. Ed won by virtue of the
    emergency check.
    The Hurricane Edna, plus frequent
showers up to the start of the Septem-
ber 19th run, packed the sands and
made the trails a literal highway. The
woods were soaked, and so were the 59
starters shortly after the start. Quite
a few water holes were immediately en-
countered and this slowed the riders
    up some.
The noon check found the tired and
wet riders checking in along with the
rain, which ended after an hour. Then
came the long second half of the run,
with miles of fire trails, stump fields
and wet sand—and finally back at the
cluphouse 15 weary riders checked in.
The results were ready shortly, and
the prizes awarded. Scorer Bill Woller-
ton deserves the credit for the speedy
    results.
The small number of entries was be-
lieved due to the bad weather. “Hog"
Breen came down for Massachusetts to
take a long 15 mile hike out of the
woods after his machine broke down.
Leslie Pink was the only girl entry.
