• Continuous smooth torque and power curves from an ultra-narrow rotary
valve engine.
• Technically advanced close-ratio transmission incorporating quick
in-gear starting and positive shifting.
• Long-travel forward-mounted rear shocks for precise handling.
> Absolute frame rigidity from perfect triangulation combining swing-arm
pivot with rear engine mount.
Magnesium and aluminum alloy components guarantee extreme lightness
for an outstanding power-to-weight ratio.
Bombardier Rotax rotary valve
engine has the Bing carburetor
mounted at the rear,
which results in an overall
width of only 10 inches. The
unique induction system
allows precise inlet
timing for high specific
output over a broad
power band.
The constant-mesh, rotary
cam transmission
offers quick in-gear
starting and accurate,
closely spaced ratios,
which enable full ad-
vantage to be taken
of the engine's
broad power band.
Bombardier Betor
fork provides 6.5"
of travel and
retains 2-way
breather valve
to eliminate
air lock.
The 6-inch
travel of the
forward-
mounted
rear shocks
characterizes
the improved
handling
package.
Patented
adjustable
steering
head
allows
precise
suspension
tuning.
Can-Am
injection
system feeds
undiluted oil
directly to critical
crankshaft
bearings and, in
addition, provides
lubrication to the
rotary valve and
cylinder wall. This
dual pressure pump
system eliminates
pre-mixing fuel
and oil.
The swing-arm pivot
bolt serves as the rear
engine mount — a
Can-Am feature — which
means increased chassis
rigidity, but also improved
chain geometry. As an
integral part of the frame, the
engine, naturaly, contributes
to overall structural
strength. Weight is reduced
to a minimum through use of
magnesium alloy in engine
case, magneto and clutch
covers. Use of aluminium
“ridgeless” rimsand magnesium
alloy in wheel hub, backing
plates and brake shoes
reduce unsprung weight
to a minimum. High density
polyethylene fenders and fuel
tank, are safe and functional.
