Description
Not one to rest on his laurels, Lightweight Champion Roberto Duran
decided to also add the title of welterweight champ to his resume.
Duran’s second fight in the lighter class took place against Jimmy Heair
at Caesar’s Palace Sports Pavilion. This is the robe Roberto Duran
donned before and after his triumphant April 8, 1979 10-round bout
against Heair. The maroon robe is made of velvet and trimmed in white.
Shoulder pads are sewn in each shoulder and the sash is no longer
present. The back has “Roberto Duran 147 lbs.in white script. The robe
derives from the 2018 auction of Duran memorabilia by the boxer’s
parents and later a 2020 Goldin Auctions. This robe comes with a LOA from Craig Hamilton for the fight
use.
