19th C. Shell Cameo Brooch "Capitoline Doves", Gold Plated Mounting, Tiffany Box

This listing is for a gorgeous antique Shell Cameo carved brooch mounted in a nice gold plated mounting, c. 1830. The cameo is carved in a design known as the Capitoline Doves or Doves of Plinty. The carving has fine details and the cameo has an unusual rectangular shape. The mounting is unmarked and may be a low quality gold, however, we have not had it tested and are selling it as gold plated. The cameo comes in a silk lined leather box that has gilt embossed stamp on the inside that reads "Tiffany & Co., New York, Paris, London". Whether the brooch was originally purchased at Tiffany or came in this box we can't guarantee, however, it has been kept in this box by the original owner and was handed down in the family.
Measures 1 3/8" long (North to South) and 1 7/8" wide (East to West). Weighs 8.1 grams.
This lovely cameo brooch is in excellent Estate condition with no noted flaws. The pin back has a tight hinge and opens and closes securely. The outside of the box has a few problems but the interior is clean and in very good  condition. Please view all photos as part of condition description.
