Portrait looks like from the Victorian era and is prong set behind clear celluloid.
The frame looks more modern, I would say 1920's.

The brooch is in good working condition with signs of normal wear on the metal.
In addition to the prongs it appears that this was also glued, as there is some visible residue around the edges.
There is patina to the metal due to age.
Clasp opens and closes fine.
