The Boston, Clinton & Fitchburg Railroad was formed in 1867 when it merged with the Agricultural Branch Railroad, which connected Framingham and Northborough through the town of Southborough and a small portion of the city of Marlborough. In 1869, it merged with the Fitchburg and Worcester Railroad and later the Boston, Clinton, Fitchburg and New Bedford Railroad.
