Incorporated in the State of New York. First Refunding Mortgage 5% Registered Gold Bond. Principal Due January 1, 1961. Certificates are about 9.5” x 13.5.” Vignette with freight train and factories next to river with ship and boat.
The Buffalo Creek Railroad Company was originally incorporated in 1869, and re-incorporated in 1890, in the State of New York. The line was formed by the Lehigh Valley Railroad Company and the New York, Lake Erie and Western Railroad Company, a predecessor of the Erie Railroad Company, who leased the Buffalo Creek Railroad. Buffalo Creek was a freight railroad with a total trackage of about 35 miles in and around Buffalo, New York.
The Buffalo Creek (nicknamed "The Crik") was the major workhorse for the grain industry and many other industries in Buffalo (with a ‘Flour Sack’ logo). The line was the liaison between the South Buffalo section of the city and at least seven major railroads that served nearly all of Buffalo's grain elevators – those not controlled by the Pennsylvania Railroad and others. These included the Lehigh Valley Railroad, Erie Railroad, New York Central Railroad, Buffalo, Rochester and Pittsburgh Railway, and the New York, Chicago and St. Louis Railroad.
