Lot of 2:
Burlington and Missouri River Railroad Company. Stock certificates issued at Boston, Massachusetts in 1871 of 0 per share. Incorporated in the State of Iowa. Hand signed by company president and treasurer. Certificate is about 7” x 10.5.” Black print. Vignette with two trains on double tracks and riverboat beyond.
1) Capital stock issued March 10, 1871. Certificate No. 591 was issued to Mrs. M. L. F. Batlett for 1 share. Green underprint.
2) Preferred stock 7% issued January 26, 1872. Certificate No. 154 was issued to Lee Higgnison & Co. for 6 shares. Red underprint.
The Burlington and Missouri River Railroad was incorporated in Burlington, Iowa in 1852, with headquarters in Omaha, Nebraska. It was developed to build a railroad across the state of Iowa and began operations in 1856. It was acquired by the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy Railroad in 1872, and kept serving as its subsidiary.
