Intricately engraved antique stock certificate from the California Railway dating back to the 1890's. This document, which has been signed by the company President and Secretary, was printed by Crocker & Co. and measures approximately 9 3/8" (w) by 5 1/4" (h).
The vignette features a train steaming alongside a lake with mountains in the background.

Historical Context
The California Railway operated a three-mile long line from the junction of the Southern Pacific Railroad, passing the Mills Seminary to Leonia Heights.
The road serviced Alameda and Fruitville, which were just across the bay from San Francisco.
