Made by Cashel, this durable and breathable fly mask has been designed with strategically placed double darts across the front of the mask to keep the mesh away from your horse’s temples and eyes and the soft mesh cap with fleece binding helps to prevent chaffing and gives optimum comfort.
In addition to protecting your horse’s face and eyes from flies, this mask comes with up to 70% UV protection which helps prevent sunburn on horses with white or light colored faces.
Another great use for a fly mask is as a covering for a cut or scrape on your horse’s face.
Treating the wound and then covering the face with the fly mask prevents insects from getting into the wound allowing it to heal properly and avoid a potential infection.
A mask can also protect against annoying gnats, mosquitos and ticks as well as preventing tall grass or weeds from poking your horse’s eye while grazing.
It is important to select the correct size of the mask so it fits your horse properly avoiding possible damage to an eye, chaffing or the possibility of your horse rubbing off the mask.
To determine if this mask is the best size, measure around your horse’s entire face and just under the mid jaw.
For this size mask the measurement should be 24”.
The adjustable hook and loop closure has a 4” adjustability variance.
To test your mask make sure your horse can freely blink when the mask is in place and that he/she can move his head up and down without the masking rubbing.
