This antique pendant-brooch is a wonderful example of the transition in design styles from the carefree prosperity of the late Belle Époque Era to the budding modernity of the Art Deco Period. A combination of romantic, gracefully flowing lines in the ribbon-and-bouquet border and the youthful, androgynous character of the short-haired subject, the cameo effortlessly spans these disparate aesthetics in a charming and expertly rendered depiction. Framed in lacy, 14k white gold hearts, the pendant-brooch has an Edwardian style locking pin-back and a folding bail for use as a pendant. In excellent condition, it is marked and tests positive for 14k gold, measures 1 1/2 x 1 1/4-inches and weighs 6.2 grams.
