Cleveland Cincinnati Chicago & St. Louis 1893 Gold 00 Bond payable at the New York City offices of the railroad. This is an original certificate for a 00 bond, number B2927, issued in 1893, due in 1993, embossed with the company seal and printed by the American Bank Note Company. Included are 46 of the 2 3/4" X 7/8" coupons used for redemption of the biannual interest payment which are still attached. A wonderful example of the care and detail that went into the intricate typography and art of railroad corporate communication. The overall size is 10" X 15" and has a nice vignette of two Greek figures at the top flanked by early 20th century steam trains. This is in great condition and is very suitable for framing and is printed on stock that is very similar to that used for United States currency, so it feels good too.
