Description:
The Siecor Model M91 Fusion Splicer incorporates a fusion splicer with a 3-axis fiber alignment, high-contrast fiber viewing system, and LID-SYSTEM unit in one rugged, lightweight and compact case. The M91 offers high-precision fiber alignment using the internal LID-SYSTEM unit and automatic fiber speed for consistently low loss splices under field conditions.
All functions of the LID-SYSTEM unit, automatic feed, and the fusion arc are microprocessor controlled. In particular, the highly stable fusion arc allows excellent splice loss performance even when splicing different types of fibers to each other. The automatic range selection of the four-stage amplifier in the LID-SYSTEM unit allows all types of single-mode and multi-mode fibers to be used without changes in settings. Likewise, the automatic reference setting feature allows the operator in many cases to quickly judge whether the splice is acceptable without external measurements.
The light weight and small size of the unit make high-quality, low reflection fusion splices more convenient than ever before. Average splice loss for identical signle-mode fibers is less than 0.05 dB. With non-identical fibers, typical losses of less than 0.10 dB may be expected.
