    Description

Vintage original 11x14 in. US title lobby card
from the 1920's silent film western retribution drama,
    HELL'S HOLE
, released in 1923 by the Fox Film Corporation and
    directed by Emmett J. Flynn
. Based upon a story by George Scarborough, a railway conductor throws cowboys Tod Musgrave (Charles Jones/Buck Jones) and Dell Hawkins (Maurice "Lefty" Flynn) off the train because they are without tickets. Settling down in a station, Tod dreams: Dell robs the train and escapes, planting some of the money on him. After an episode of adventure and romance in which Tod is sent to prison, escapes, and finally tracks down the culprit, Tod awakens to find that Dell is still his jolly companion. The cast includes Ruth Clifford, Eugene Pallette, George Siegmann, Kathleen Key, Hardy Kirkland, Charles K. French, Rube Miller, Fred Kohler, and Dick Sutherland.
The design of this title card is silent film drama at its best and depicts a dramatic shot of Dorothy Owen (
    Ruth Clifford
) clutched in the arms of Dell Hawkins (
    Maurice "Lefty" Flynn
    ) while Tod Musgrave (
    Charles Jones
    (AKA
    Buck Jones
) represents the crucification of Christ for his retribution for being sent to prison. The film's title is represented in a beautiful shade of lime green, which adds to the visual interest. It is unrestored in fine+ condition with light signs of random wear on the corners; random discoloration and/or smudges in the borders and along the center of the side borders; two pinholes in the right border; and a 0.25 in. horizontal tear on the right border above the center.
The working title of this film was
    Payday
    .
