This unit is sold as-is, we have not tried to turn it on because of the potential risks outlined above, however it was obtained from the sale of equipment when  a company closed down and there no reason to suspect it was defective.
End of fibre cable is covered to avoid inadvertent exposure to the invisible radiation.
