The Chicago Express was a professional basketball franchise based in Chicago, Illinois. The team was one of the original franchises of the World Basketball League, which began play in 1988. Michael Jordan, younger brother of Express star Larry Jordan, was a player in the National Basketball Association, primarily for the Chicago Bulls. The Express advanced to the WBL championship game in 1988, losing to the Las Vegas Silver Streaks 102-95 on September 9, 1988.
After the 1988 season, the franchise moved to Springfield, Illinois and played two more seasons as the Illinois Express before folding for good in late 1990.
While in Chicago, the Express played its home games at the Rosemont Horizon.

ANOTHER JORDAN HOPES CAREER TAKES FLIGHT
CHICAGO TRIBUNE, Dec 13, 1987
His last name is Jordan and he can dunk it backwards-two hands-with ease. So, what`s the big deal? Everyone has seen Michael Jordan`s numerous flights of fancy.
Actually, this Jordan`s first name is Larry. He is Michael`s older brother by one year, 25, and only stands 5 feet 8 inches tall.
Although shortchanged by Mother Nature, Larry will get his chance to play professionally this summer when he suits up for the Chicago franchise of the International Basketball Association. This is a new league for players 6-4 and under, and Jordan was drafted in the third round last week.
''This will be good for him,'' Michael said. ''He has always been a good player, but he just didn`t grow enough.'' Larry said there are pros and cons in having such a famous brother.
''The disadvantage is that you don`t have your own identity,'' he said.
''I`m always known as Michael Jordan`s brother instead of Larry Jordan. But there are advantages, too. I was given a speeding ticket in North Carolina recently. I drive a red 1985 Corvette. I would`ve lost my license except the district attorney was a big North Carolina and Michael Jordan fan.
''People treat you better as a person because of Michael. A lot of great things have happened to me and my family.''
Larry went to North Carolina A&T and North Carolina-Wilmington, but made his name on the intramural courts. Until now, he was vicariously living out a fantasy through his brother.
''I have that dream, along with millions of others, but I know a very small percentage get drafted (into the NBA),'' Larry said. ''I was fulfilling my dream in watching him play. Growing up together, I`m part of all the things he`s doing. We used to play one-on-one against each other all the time, and I think he learned a few things from me. Some of the good things he`s done reflect on me.''
But Larry doesn`t want to get lost in that reflection.
''I want to become my own man,'' he said. ''I don`t want you to measure me by the success Michael is having on the court. I`m a good ballhandler, an average shooter, and quickness is my greatest asset. I`m used to getting my shot off against bigger guys.''
Larry manages the sporting goods store in Charlotte, N.C., that sells nothing but Air Jordan apparel. It is the first of its kind, and if successful, will branch out in different parts of the country. The name of the store? Flight 23 By Jordan.
