I have had these in my collection for 20 years. Won the shoes from Leland’s auction house. Most definitely a conversational piece.. This is by far the most oddest & controversial piece of memorabilia I have ever seen in all my years of collecting..

I believe Tyson had to wear the same pair of shoes for years.. They still have dirt on them from the prison grounds.
He gave them as a gift to one of the guards he became friends with.
I’m not sure I even want to sell the shoes but maybe it’s time to pass them on to someone else to enjoy. They definitely have shocked most anyone that has ever seen them in person.

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
The athletic shoes (pictured in the attached polaroid) were owned and worn daily by boxing great Mike
Tyson while incarcerated in the Plainfield, IN prison.
The shoes are are grey and blue in color. They are of the brand name New Balance. They are of the model Encap 1500. Both shoes are prison stamped on the inner tongue in black. The stamped number is
922335. This number is Mike Tyson's personal prison identification. Both shoes show heavy wear.
We acquired the shoes from Mr. Curry of Indianapolis, IN. Mr Curry is the Head of the Recreation Dept. for the correctional facility that Tyson was incarcerated in. Mr. Curry became quite friendly with Mr.
Tyson over the years, and became his prison exercise trainer. Mr. Curry provided us with paperwork on State Form reprimanding him for providing Mr. Tyson vitamins (copy included). Although this was done in good faith, the prison officials deemed it contraband. This form also proves that...1. Mr. Curry is employed by the prison in the Recreation Dept. 2. Mike Tyson's prison # is 922335. 3. Mr. Curry and Mr. Tyson had a close relationship dating back to at least May 1994. Mr. Curry also showed us pictures of himself and Tyson with celebrities such as Charles Barkley, Shaquille O'Neal, and Don King (A photo of Curry, Tyson & King is also included. Mr. Curry also showed us several autographed pieces including a recent birthday card to him from Tyson with lenghty inscription including' ...a very good friend...Love, Mike Tyson". We authenticated the signed items, including the card, and they were undeniably authentic.
Mr. Curry had many interesting and amusing stories dealing with Tyson and some of his famous guests.
We believe, undoubtedly, that these shoes were owned and heavily worn by Mike Tyson while incarcerated. These shoes were given as a gift to Mr. Curry, of the prison Recreation Staff. Mr. Curry smuggled these out, and the rest of Mr. Tyson's prison apparel was burned. We acquired them directly from Mr. Curry on 4/6/95. Mr. Curry has asked to keep his name private and out of the press, so that he can keep his employment and benefits at the prison.
