    Product Details
    Nicely engraved antique stock certificate from the Oaklnad & Ottawa Rail Road Company dating back to the 1850's. This document was printed by Gavit & Co. and measures approximately 10" (w) by 6 3/4" (h).
    The certificate features a pair of vignettes - the Michigan State Seal at the top and a locomotive and tender at the bottom.

    Historical Context
    The Oakland & Ottawa Rail Road was chartered in 1848 to build from Oakland, through Fentonville to Lake Michigan in Ottawa County.
    The line merged with the Detroit & Pontiac Railroad in 1855, and the name was changed to the Detroit & Milwaukee Railroad.
