Sailor launches a new series with "Koshu Inden" an ancient Japanese leather craft dating back more than 400 years. Mr Makoto Yamamoto masters the craft of Koshu Inden for 40 years and created this beautiful pens in a natural deer skin with an urushi application. Sailor chose 2 traditional motifs: the “Sakura cherry blossom” on a red leather and the “Saya Sheath” on a black leather.
The Saya (Sheath) is a dignified and clean-cut pattern often preferred by warrior families and now frequently used on textiles and fabrics. The Petite Cherry Blossoms is a popular pattern used to decorate the armor and helmets of warriors. Today this pattern is more commonly found on kimonos and other garments and accessories. The contrast between the hardness of the urushi lacquer and the smooth warm feel of the leather is a pleasure in the finger tips.
