    Spokane, Valley & Northern Railway Company. Bond issued August 15, 1917. Incorporated in the State of Washington.
    Gold embossed company seal lower left. Certificate
    No. 1101
    . 0 First Mortgage 6% Gold Bearer Bond. Coupons No. 5 and 6 remain. Hand signed by company president and secretary. Certificate is about 9.5” x 14.5.” Black print with orange borders on cream-colored paper.

    The Spokane, Valley & Northern Railway was a short-line road of about six miles that was built by the American Mineral Production Company in about 1917 to run from the company’s marble and magnesite quarry (Allen quarry) to a railhead in the town of Valley, Washington in Stevens County in the northwestern part of the state.
