from the 1930's murder mystery/crime thriller,
THE DARK HOUR
, released in 1936 by Chesterfield Motion Pictures Corp. and
directed by Charles Lamont
. A pair of detectives investigate the murder of an elderly millionaire who was the target of blackmail and death threats and find that there is no shortage of suspects, many of them in the victim's own family.
The image features a striking design that is dominated by a large clock in the center with the hands at midnight with most of the film's major cast members surrounding it (billed on the card are
Ray Walker, Irene Ware, Berton Churchill, Hedda Hopper, Hobart Bosworth, and E.E. Clive
). Printed for the film's original 1936 US theatrical release, this vintage original title lobby card is unrestored in fine+ condition with a 0.75 in. diagonal chip on the top right corner and a 0.5 in. diagonal chip on the bottom left corner; a small area of light horizontal scuffing in the top left background area to the right of the production company credits; light horizontal creasing along the last 3.75 in. of the top border with a small tear at the center of the creases; a 0.75 in. diagonal crease on the bottom right corner; and a tiny water stain on the bottom left corner within the borders only. The color tints, which include a beautiful shade of deep blue and bright yellow, are all fresh and vibrant without any signs of fading.
